About
Why we build Ceres
Ceres is a budgeting app and finance assistant for people who want to manage money around their own income. It’s built in Istanbul and works in five languages.
Why Ceres?
Most budgeting apps run on the calendar month, but a salary might land on the 15th and a freelancer’s income on a different day every month. Ceres builds your budget around your own period: from the day your income arrives to the next.
We’re not here to show you more charts. We answer one question every day: how much can I spend today? The maths behind it is Ceres’ job.
Where do the numbers come from?
Every figure Ceres shows comes from a plain formula. No magic, no guesswork.
- Period budget
income − savings goal − fixed costsWhat you can spend over the period once rent, bills, installments and savings are set aside. - Daily allowance
(what’s left − savings goal) ÷ days leftRecalculated after every expense: spend more one day and the next days get a little less. - Pace
spent ÷ days gone × days in the periodWhere you’ll close the period at this pace, so you see a drift before the period ends.
The sample screens on this site show a sample household’s figures, calculated with the same formulas; the brands are fictional.
How we write our guides
- Our guides are written by the Ceres team. They are general information, not personal financial or investment advice.
- We base facts on official and primary sources and list them at the end of every guide.
- Worked examples use the formulas the Ceres app uses, so you can redo the steps with your own numbers.
- When a rule, rate or regulation changes, we update the guide; the update date shows at the top.
- We may use AI tools while drafting; before publishing, we read every guide and check its numbers and sources.
- We don’t recommend banks, cards or investment products.
