Income and spending, by period

Budget from payday to payday, not by the calendar.

If the 1st of the month isn’t your payday, your budget shouldn’t run on it. Ceres starts every period on the day your salary lands and tracks income, spending and what’s left within it.

How it works

  1. 01

    Pick your payday

The period starts that day and runs to the next payday. Even if a weekend moves the salary earlier, the period doesn’t shift.

  2. 02

    Fixed costs come off first

Rent, fees, bills, installments and subscriptions come off as locked items; your savings goal is set aside.

  3. 03

    Know it every day

What’s left is split over the days left, so every entry shows what you can safely spend today.

The details

Questions, answered

My salary arrives on a different day each month. What happens?

You pick your payday once; if a weekend or holiday moves the salary earlier, the period still starts on the same day. Paydays like the 29th–31st move to the last day of shorter months.

How is this different from a monthly budget?

When your salary lands mid-month, “left this month” is misleading. When the period starts on payday, the budget left and the safe-to-spend amount show the money you really have.

Is it free?

Yes. Periods, budgets, income and spending tracking and the safe daily amount are in the Free plan. The period-end forecast and Ceres notes are part of Premium.
